KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER IN OFFSHORE OUTSOURCING AND INTERNATIONAL JOINT VENTURES (IJVS)
A Critical Literature Review from Cross-Cultural Context

ABSTRACT

“Knowledge transfer” or “Knowledge sharing” is considered an important strategic issue among the partner firms in today’s globalized business ventures. In a trans-border or transcontinental business relation, cultural dimensions are important factors for success or failure of these ventures. Culture plays an important role in various management issues including “Knowledge transfer” among the business partners of international ventures such as offshore outsourcing or International joint ventures. However, there is very scarce literature dealing with the organizational learning & knowledge transfer from the international and cross-cultural point of view. With the critical literature review method, this paper tries to shed light on cultural effects on knowledge transfer process, challenges and strategies of knowledge transfer in cross-cultural context.

RÉSUMÉ

“Le transfert de connaissances » ou «partage des connaissances“ est considéré comme un enjeu stratégique important pour les entreprises partenaires dans les projets d'affaires mondialisés d'aujourd'hui. Dans une relation d'affaires transfrontalière ou transcontinentale, les dimensions culturelles sont des facteurs importants de réussite ou d'échec de ces entreprises. La culture joue un rôle important dans la gestion des diverses questions de gestion, y compris le « transfert de connaissances » entre les partenaires commerciaux des entreprises internationales telles que la sous-traitance internationale ou des coentreprises internationales. Toutefois, la littérature traitant de l'apprentissage organisationnel et du transfert de connaissances du point de vue international et transculturel est très rare. Avec la méthode de revue critique de la littérature, cet article tente de faire la lumière sur les effets de la culture sur le processus de transfert des connaissances, les défis et les stratégies de transfert de connaissances en contexte interculturel.
